The second of our two films this Lent is ‘The Shawshank Redemption’. The story of a city banker, Andy, who is convicted for two brutal murders and sent to Shawshank State prison to pay the penalty of his crime. He forms an unlikely relationship in prison with Red and a side issue of helping corrupt officials amass personal fortunes. With a twist in the story, Andy finds that survival comes down to a simple choice – ‘Get busy living or get busy dying!’. Redemption?
Lent, is a time for self-examination and part of it is not only life-giving but talking about those things that are not easy. Easter also contains scenes of an adult nature - as does this film and Lent might help us to explore these!
Take a look at the film beforehand and we will discuss some scenes and see where we go. Look forward to your company.
