In the early hours of Monday 6 February 2023, a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Turkey’s border with northern Syria.

The scale of the devastation remains unclear but the earthquake has already killed more than 24,000 people, injured many more and destroyed thousands of homes and buildings, leaving families exposed to freezing winter temperatures and snowstorms.

Rescuers are racing against time to reach children trapped under rubble.

HOW CAN I HELP?

You can help get families the food, warm blankets, winter clothes and shelter materials they need to survive. You can help set up safe spaces for women and children, and get psychological support to children so they can start to process what they've experienced.

£30 could provide a month’s supply of hygiene essentials for a family.
